Dining Around the World with A Certain Genius

One thing I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE is to visit places I have treasured in books, ogled in movies, obsessed over on Instagram, followed on Facebook, retweeted on Twitter...and so on. Like so many of us, I say to myself, "I am going there someday!"

An early contribution to my collection of famous haunts was the Russian Tea Room in NYC.

Located close to Carnegie Hall and Central Park, it's perfect for an Old New York happy hour drink, bucket list dinner, or late night caviar. And don't forget high tea!

On our most recent visit, we dropped in after a nearby performance for cocktails and late-night delicacies in tapas-size portions. The rich red, green, and gold, dimly lit for romance or winding down, mellowed after a Bénédictine...or two.

To virtually visit the Russian Tea Room, check out its cameo on the silver screen in Tootsie (1984):
